We need 500 runners and 200 walkers for the 20th Annual "Run for the Arts" 5K/2-Mile Walk

Goals are important to any endeavor. We all have them. Running is one of those activities where you need to have a goal to enjoy all the sweat and work that goes into every race. Our yearly 5K run, we have goals and we're looking for the surrounding communities to help - both Arts and Running. Last year, we had 373 runners and 40 walkers for our annual 5K event and I want to cross the finish line with 500 runners and 200 walkers. Achievable? Yes, with help. We need runners, walkers, and volunteers to reach our "ultimate finish line".

Our 20th Annual "Run for the Arts" 5K/2-mile walk takes place on September 14 at 9 am (9:05 for those walking the 2-mile walk) on Main Avenue at the Jersey Shore Arts Center. The race starts at the main gates of Ocean Grove and finishes on Lawrence Avenue on the east side of the building. Participants will run through Ocean Grove; seeing the historic buildings and sites (including the Great Auditorium) and on the Ocean Grove boardwalk. We have various age categories and we welcome all ages to come out and support.

The money collected for the registration for this event goes into restoration and maintenance efforts of the "Old" Neptune High School. We also use the money collected to fund Jersey Shore Arts Center sponsored events such as the Cafe Artiste, Holiday Tree Lighting, Green Room Art Classes, and others. This past couple of years we've struggled to get our South Parking Lot up to par and we need more improvements to our entrances in that area which include getting an ADA wheelchair lift installed in our South Lobby Entrance for those with ambulatory disabilities. Without annual events like our 5K, we could not carry on our mission to restore and maintain the JSAC building and support local artists.

Registration is super easy. If you are computer savvy, potential registrants can go online to this link and register anytime. People more comfortable with submitting a check can mail to this address:

Jersey Shore Arts Center

P.O. Box 55

Ocean Grove, NJ 07756

Early registration ends 8/23/19. If you register prior to the early deadline your race registration will cost only $25. After the deadline, the cost goes to $30. All registrants receive a race shirt.

We also need volunteers for packet-pick-up stations, a refreshments table, and course marshals. There is a volunteer's meeting scheduled for August 23 at 5 pm in the 3rd Floor Cafe Space to go over details and hand out race maps. At this current point, we still need a local company or business to work the additional water stop just added this year. All volunteers will receive a race shirt for helping out and the chance to be part of something big.

We can not achieve the "ultimate finish line" without support and help. Be a runner, a volunteer or a sponsor, because with these important roles covered - our event will be a great success and we can continue on with our building and programs.
