****FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE******

Jersey Shore Arts Center (JSAC) has decided to take it's yearly "Run for the Arts" 5K event virtual this year. This decision was given great thought and consideration as to this virtual option. The Jersey Shore Arts Center feels it is prudent to err on the side of the Ocean Grove community's health and safety, potential participants, and event volunteers.
Participants have two virtual options this year - 1-Mile Dog Walk and 2-Mile Group Board Walk. Both registration options are found at https://runsignup.com/Race/NJ/OceanGrove/JSACRunfortheArts5K or via link on the JSAC website. Both options are $25 with the opportunity to add a donation. We're asking virtual registrants to photograph their participation with #wesupportJSAC and post on social media before September 30. Prizes for "most creative" will be awarded to participants, and photos will be posted on the JSAC social media and organization website. Provident Bank has provided funds to help offset some of the event expenses. JSAC welcomes further business sponsorship for its Accessibility Project, which will install new sidewalks on the Lawrence Avenue side of the facility.
2019 Run T Shirts are provided as part of the registration cost while supplies last. Due to heavy financial losses, new 2020 Walk Shirts for the virtual event will be made available for purchase through the JSAC website. A portion of the proceeds from the 2020 Walk Shirts will go towards the JSAC GE Fund to assist the JSAC organization pay for general expenses (utilities, insurances, building maintenance, and services). Lost funds from cancellations and closure have cost the organization considerably, and the prospect of more months of closure has slowed preservation efforts to the Old Neptune High School.
The JSAC Accessibility Project focuses on access for people with disabilities providing a safe, independent entry in and out of the facility and new sidewalks on the Lawrence Avenue entry. This project will also include automatic doors and lighting for the wheelchair ramp area.
The Jersey Shore Art Center facility supports local artists, arts organizations, and arts educators with affordable studio workspace. JSAC sponsors low-cost and free arts programming and events that educate and enrich the Shore community.
The Accessibility Project ensures that all populations continue to have access to the arts. For details on the JSAC,
Virtual Arts Walk, GE Fund Drive, and the Accessibility Project details can be found online at www.JerseyShoreArtsCenter.org.
Access to the facility's main office at 66 South Main Street in Ocean Grove, NJ, is restricted to JSAC staff and residents due to Governor Murphy's executive order. Personnel may be contacted by phone or through the organization website for more information.
