One of the ways we support our local artists is providing affordable low cost studio space allowing them to focus on their craft and grow creatively.
Susan C. Harris
I have been working as a visual artist in one way or another throughout my life. Beginning as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator in magazine publishing in New York City and later inspired by students at Art Studio Now, an art enrichment business I founded in 2004 teaching art to children, teens and adults. In March of 2020, in-person instruction ended and the process of relocating the school, and my studio began.
Whether I am painting in oil, acrylic or gouache on paper, canvas or wooden boxes, my work is based on a personal visual narrative. It can be representational in both style and imagery. Recent work consists of mixed media; accessible abstractractions, a mix of symbols and typography painted in boxes and on canvas.
I’ve exhibited at West Orange Arts Council, Arts Unbound, 1978 Gallery, The Framing Mill, Gas Gallery and annually at the South Orange/Maplewood Artist Studio Tour. My work is held in many private collections. BFA from Kansas City Art Institute.
